Nexdor Systems required a solution to control airborne dust generated by cutting equipment in a processing area. The workspace posed a risk of cross-contamination to adjoining rooms via access paths, and while workers in the immediate zone used filtered breathing headgear, additional passive controls were needed.
The goal was to create a physical barrier at two openings, one large and one mid-sized, without affecting access. The installation needed to be compliant, durable, and supplied within a 45-day timeframe. A supply-only arrangement was preferred.
Two SonicClear sliding strip curtains were supplied, custom-configured to suit each opening. Both solutions were preassembled and supplied in kit form to ensure straightforward installation at site.
For Opening 1 (5000mm wide x 3500mm high), the installation included two fixed curtain panels measuring 1300mm and 1275mm wide, constructed from 200mm wide x 2mm thick PVC strips with a 50mm overlap. These were mounted to a heavy-duty aluminium track using stainless steel face fixings. Two sliding panels, each 1450mm wide, were installed on a dual-wheel nylon carrier system. The track spanned the full 5000mm width to allow complete access when open.
For Opening 2 (4030mm wide x 2600mm high), the setup featured two fixed curtain panels, 400mm and 1250mm wide, mounted to an aluminium track with stainless steel face fixings. Two sliding panels, measuring 850mm and 210mm wide, were fitted on a full-span 4030mm track using dual-wheel carriers.
All components were manufactured using Flexshield’s SonicClear 200mm-wide, 2mm-thick PVC strips, offering both transparency and protection. Materials were chosen for longevity and resistance to impact, ensuring performance under regular traffic and cleaning routines.
The curtains are now in place, providing a reliable barrier against airborne dust and reducing the risk of cross-contamination, while remaining easy to move for access when needed.
Following installation, the client shared images of the curtains in both open and closed positions, commenting,
“Overall we’re very happy with the setup.”
Supplied on time and in kit form, the solution was a smart fit for Nexdor Systems’ operations. The project reinforced Flexshield’s reputation for dependable products, delivered right first time.
