Flexible PVC Strip Curtain Testing and Compliance

The SonicClear is available in 2mm, 4mm, and 6mm thickness options, all of which have been NATA tested. The testing is conducted in accordance with Australian Standard 1191-2002, Acoustics: Method for Laboratory Measurement of Airborne Sound Transmission Loss of Building Partitions. The weighted sound transmission index (Rw) is determined as specified in AS/NZS ISO 717.1-2004 Acoustics – Rating of sound insulation in buildings and building elements, Part I: Airborne Sound Insulation. Please ask us if you would like a copy of the full NATA Attenuation test results.

How to Specify Flexible PVC Strip Curtains

Measure the height from the floor or the bottom of the opening to the desired top position where the PVC strip curtains will be installed. Make sure to measure at multiple points along the height to account for any variations.

Installing Flexshield’s PVC strip curtains is a straightforward process that can be completed in a few simple steps:

Step 1: Measure and Mark

Using a tape measure, determine the width and height of the opening where the PVC strip curtains will be installed. Mark the desired height and width on the wall or doorway frame using a pencil or marker.

Step 2: Install the Track

Position the track along the top of the marked width, ensuring it is level. Mark the drill hole positions on the wall or doorway frame using a pencil. Pre-drill the holes at the marked positions, following your track’s recommended drill bit size. Attach the track securely to the wall or doorway frame using screws and a screwdriver.

Step 3: Install the PVC Strips

Hanging the first PVC strip into the track starts from one side of the opening. Leave the appropriate number of hooks depending on the size of the strip and desired overlap, then hang the next strip. Repeat this process until you reach the end of the track. Then, go back and fill the spaces between the first row of strips.

Step 4: Prepare the PVC Strips

Cut the PVC strips to the desired height. Use scissors or a utility knife to make clean, straight cuts. Ensure the strips are 10-20mm short of the floor to prevent them from getting trapped.

Step 5: Final Adjustments

Once all the PVC strips are installed, make any necessary adjustments to hang straight and evenly spaced. Trim the bottom of the strips if required to ensure proper clearance from the floor.

 

Step 7: Test and Maintenance

After installation:

  1. Test the PVC strip curtains by observing their functionality through the opening.
  2. Make any necessary adjustments to ensure smooth movement and proper sealing.
  3. Periodically inspect the strips for damage or wear and replace any damaged strips promptly to maintain the curtains’ effectiveness.
