Flexible PVC Strip Curtain Mounting Systems

Dished washers are used in all Flexshield strip curtains to extend the life of the PVC strip and help prevent tearing at the mounting points. Stainless steel fixings prevent corrosion and ensure easy maintenance, while aluminium mounting tracks are anodised for a durable, neutral finish.

Heavy Duty Head Rail

Head or face mount options with anodised aluminium—simple and efficient installation, also available in a compact size.

Stainless Steel Hook-On Track System

A premium hook-on product that uses corrosion-resistant stainless steel and can be easily removed for cleaning and unrestricted access.

Strip Curtain Sliding Track Options

Flexshield sliding curtains allow clear, unrestricted access through your doorway during heavy traffic or when the barrier is not required. Our sliding strip curtain can have spring-loaded positioning locks and extension handles for high doorways. Our system allows the strip curtain to be mounted inside a doorway with a roller door fitted, ensuring the curtain is protected from the weather and vandalism.

Flexible PVC Strip Curtain Testing and Compliance

At Flexshield, safety and compliance are our top priorities. We subject our PVC barriers to rigorous testing to ensure they meet industry standards and regulations. With Flexshield, you can rest assured that your PVC strip curtains adhere to the highest quality and safety standards.

The SonicClear is available in 2mm, 4mm, and 6mm thickness options, all of which have been NATA tested. The testing is conducted in accordance with Australian Standard 1191-2002, Acoustics: Method for Laboratory Measurement of Airborne Sound Transmission Loss of Building Partitions. The weighted sound transmission index (Rw) is determined as specified in AS/NZS ISO 717.1-2004 Acoustics – Rating of sound insulation in buildings and building elements, Part I: Airborne Sound Insulation. Please ask us if you would like a copy of the full NATA Attenuation test results.

How to Specify Flexible PVC Strip Curtains

It is essential to choose the right PVC strip curtain for optimal performance in your facility. At Flexshield, we collaborate closely with you to understand your processes and requirements. Whether you need noise reduction, temperature control, or dust containment, we customise our solutions to meet your needs.

Step 1: Determine the Installation Area

Identify the area where you plan to install the PVC strip curtains. This can be a doorway, opening, or any space you want to create a barrier using the curtains.

Step 2: Measure the Width

Measure the width of the installation area from one side to the other. If you’re measuring a doorway and wish to install the curtains on the underside of the opening, measure the width between the doorframe or any fixed structures. If you are fixing the curtain across the face of the frame, it is a good idea for the curtain to overlap 50-100mm on each side. Ensure that you measure the width at the desired installation height.

Step 3: Measure the Height

Measure the height from the floor or the bottom of the opening to the desired top position where the PVC strip curtains will be installed. Make sure to measure at multiple points along the height to account for any variations.

Step 4: Determine the Strip Width

Decide on the width of the PVC strips you require for your specific needs. Common strip widths are 200mm, 300mm, or 400mm. A wider strip can provide better insulation and protection, while a narrower strip can offer increased visibility. Consider factors such as the size of the opening, the traffic flow, and the level of insulation or visibility you desire when selecting the strip width. Similarly, choose the desired amount of overlap between the PVC strips for your application.

Step 5: Determine the Strip Overlap

Choose the desired amount of overlap between the PVC strips for your application.

Installing Flexshield’s PVC strip curtains is a straightforward process that can be completed in a few simple steps:

Step 1: Measure and Mark

Using a tape measure, determine the width and height of the opening where the PVC strip curtains will be installed. Mark the desired height and width on the wall or doorway frame using a pencil or marker.

Step 2: Install the Track

Position the track along the top of the marked width, ensuring it is level. Mark the drill hole positions on the wall or doorway frame using a pencil. Pre-drill the holes at the marked positions, following your track’s recommended drill bit size. Attach the track securely to the wall or doorway frame using screws and a screwdriver.

Step 3: Install the PVC Strips

Hanging the first PVC strip into the track starts from one side of the opening. Leave the appropriate number of hooks depending on the size of the strip and desired overlap, then hang the next strip. Repeat this process until you reach the end of the track. Then, go back and fill the spaces between the first row of strips.

Step 4: Prepare the PVC Strips

Cut the PVC strips to the desired height. Use scissors or a utility knife to make clean, straight cuts. Ensure the strips are 10-20mm short of the floor to prevent them from getting trapped.

Step 5: Final Adjustments

Once all the PVC strips are installed, make any necessary adjustments to hang straight and evenly spaced. Trim the bottom of the strips if required to ensure proper clearance from the floor.

Step 7: Test and Maintenance

After installation:

  1. Test the PVC strip curtains by observing their functionality through the opening.
  2. Make any necessary adjustments to ensure smooth movement and proper sealing.
  3. Periodically inspect the strips for damage or wear and replace any damaged strips promptly to maintain the curtains’ effectiveness.
