Quench Tanks

Flexshield Quench tanks are built for cooling hot metal components in welding, fabrication and metalworking workshops. Available in stainless steel or galvanised steel configurations, they can be sized and fitted out to suit the work being processed, the available floor area and the workshop’s plumbing and drainage requirements.
  • Stainless steel or galvanised steel construction options
  • Standard and custom dimensions available
  • Integrated drain bung for routine draining and maintenance
  • Lift-out base grate for collecting debris
  • Optional plumbing fixtures, taps and base filters
  • Raised leg construction for workshop access
  • Can be planned as part of a wider Welding Bay or industrial workshop fitout

Questions people ask about Quench Tanks

A Quench tank provides a dedicated area for cooling hot metal components after welding, fabrication or heat treatment processes. The appropriate tank configuration depends on the material, component size, quenching medium and workshop procedure.

Flexshield Quench tanks are available in stainless steel or galvanised steel configurations. Material selection should take the intended application, quenching medium and site conditions into account.

The current range lists 660mm x 600mm x 800mm and 910mm x 500mm x 800mm standard sizes, with a standard 500mm working depth. Custom dimensions are also available.

Yes. Dimensions, height, plumbing fixtures, taps, base filters and grating can be considered as part of the project specification.

The current Flexshield configuration includes an integrated drain bung. The final drainage arrangement and connection requirements should be confirmed for the site.

Consider the component size, quenching medium, material compatibility, tank capacity, workshop layout, drainage, water supply where required, cleaning access and surrounding hot-work activities.

Positioning should reflect the workflow between hot work and cooling while allowing suitable access, clearance and material handling. Site-specific risk controls and workshop procedures should guide the final location.
