Welding bay walls help separate individual welding work areas while managing noise generated during practical training. Constructed from Sonic System acoustic modular panels, the walls combine a perforated internal steel face with a high-density Rockwool core and a solid external face.
The perforated face faces the welding activity to absorb noise within the bay, while the panel construction also reduces noise between adjacent work areas. This allows welding bays to be planned as part of an organised workshop layout without relying on lightweight partitions.
Flexshield commonly uses Sonic System acoustic modular panel V50 and V225 for education welding bay walls. V50 provides an NRC rating of 1.00 and Rw 31dB, while V225 provides an NRC rating of 0.80 and Rw 24dB. Other Sonic System acoustic modular panel variants can be specified for different acoustic requirements.
Welding bay walls can be installed as individual partitions or incorporated throughout a Complete acoustic welding bay layout. Panel selection should consider the required acoustic performance, wall dimensions, workshop arrangement and associated welding equipment.

The Sonic System acoustic modular panels used for Welding bay walls combine a perforated internal face, high-density Rockwool core and solid external face. The perforated face helps absorb noise within the welding area, while the complete panel provides noise reduction between the bay and surrounding workshop areas. The required panel should be selected according to the project’s acoustic requirements.
Yes. The modular panels allow Welding bay walls to be planned around individual bays, multi-bay layouts and complete Trade Training Centre workshops. Wall height, length, panel selection, access points and associated welding equipment can be considered as part of the workshop layout. Flexshield can assist with planning and specification.
Yes. Welding bay walls can be combined with Weldflex™ strip curtains or Weldflex™ sheet curtains, Welding tables, FlexWeld floor mats, Quench tanks and Safe welding fume extraction. The final arrangement depends on the workshop layout, number of bays and teaching requirements.
Project teams should identify the number of welding bays, required wall dimensions, preferred Sonic System acoustic modular panel type and any associated curtain, workstation or fume extraction requirements. Installation preferences and whether the walls form part of a Complete acoustic welding bay should also be identified. Flexshield can provide technical documentation and assist with panel selection and workshop planning.
