McGees Property, a locally owned and nationally connected commercial property firm based in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley, faced a challenge. Brisbane City Council had advised that plant equipment (air conditioning units) on the roofs of some of McGees’ commercial buildings would need acoustic screening.
In order to comply with the council’s regulations and improve relations with nearby residents, McGees needed an effective noise control solution.
McGees’ Facilities Manager reached out to leading acoustic solutions provider Flexshield to address the noise issue. After assessing McGees Property’s requirements and considering their desired outcome, Flexshield recommended and implemented V50 Sonic System Acoustic Modular Panels.
Flexshield’s Sonic System acoustic modular panels are highly versatile. Their interior face comprises numerous perforations which coupled with a Rock Wool core, enables effective noise absorption from the equipment. The panels’ exterior face is designed to provide a smooth flat surface, ensuring an aesthetically pleasing finish that blends seamlessly with the surrounding architecture.
Lightweight and easy to handle, Sonic System panels can be utilised for various applications, such as creating complete acoustic enclosures or rooms, mobile screens, dividing walls, and treating walls for reverberation control. Because the panels come in a pre-finished ‘off-white’ colour, they offer a neutral and visually appealing solution. Sonic System panels are fireproof and do not support combustion, making them ideal for surrounding plant equipment.
Results:
After installing Flexshield’s Sonic System acoustic modular panels around the plant equipment, McGees Property experienced significant improvements in noise reduction. The noise emissions were effectively contained, enhancing relations with neighbouring residences surrounding the commercial buildings.
Thanks to the implementation of Flexshield’s noise control solution, McGees Property achieved compliance with the Brisbane City Council’s regulations and demonstrated its commitment to being a responsible and considerate corporate citizen. The project’s successful outcome not only addressed the immediate challenge of noise control, but also contributed to a more harmonious and peaceful environment for both tenants and nearby residents.
