Talk to our Trade Training Specification Team
Every Trade Training Centre specification influences how the workshop will perform for years to come. Acoustic separation of the hot works area, supervision, workflow, durability and support for compliance requirements all need to be considered early in the design process.
Selecting products supported by independently tested performance and detailed technical documentation helps reduce uncertainty during procurement and construction while providing confidence that the completed workshop will perform as intended.
With more than 25 years of manufacturing experience, Flexshield understands the technical requirements of education projects and provides the documentation and support needed to confidently move projects from concept through to completion.
Trade training centres need welding bays that support practical training while providing defined separation between welding, grinding and fabrication activities. Bay layouts also need to maintain instructor sightlines, accommodate equipment and services, and support relevant Australian Standards.
Flexshield welding bay components can be specified individually or combined as part of a coordinated bay configuration for new facilities, workshop upgrades and refurbishment projects. Components include acoustic panels, transparent barriers, welding curtains, floor protection and fume extraction, allowing each bay to be configured around the workshop layout, training activities and supervision requirements.
The tables below group products by specification function, allowing acoustic and visibility performance to be considered separately from welding protection, floor protection and fume extraction requirements.

Independent testing and documented product performance support informed specification of welding and grinding bays within trade training centres.
Flexshield products used in welding and grinding bay configurations have been tested to relevant Australian and international standards where applicable. This includes the Sonic System acoustic modular panel range, welding screens and curtains, floor protection products and selected transparent PVC barriers.
Depending on the products specified, relevant standards may include:
AS/NZS ISO 717.1 for airborne acoustic insulation ratings
AS/NZS 3957 for welding screens and curtains designed to protect surrounding areas from welding hazards
AS/NZS 2978 for welding mats used for floor protection in welding environments
Product-specific performance data, acoustic ratings and applicable standards are provided within individual product specifications to assist architects, acoustic consultants and education facility designers with product selection and documentation.
Where project-specific compliance requirements apply, product selection should be coordinated with the relevant consultant, project documentation and applicable regulatory requirements.
Flexshield provides technical resources to assist architects, consultants and designers with product selection, documentation and project coordination.
Available resources may include DWG files, Revit files, PDFs and product-specific technical information, helping Flexshield products be incorporated into drawings, schedules and specification documentation.
Request the file format or product information you require, and a Flexshield team member will provide the relevant resources within one business day.
