Generator noise control products
HVAC acoustic attenuators and ventilation noise control
HVAC systems can be a significant source of noise even when the plant itself is well managed. Noise generated by fans and air-handling units propagates through the ductwork and radiates from the supply and return openings. In industrial facilities, plant rooms, and commercial buildings, this noise can materially contribute to both internal and external noise levels.
Flexshield designs and manufactures HVAC acoustic attenuators and acoustic louvres for industrial, commercial and infrastructure projects. Products are engineered to deliver the required acoustic attenuation while maintaining the airflow performance the system needs.
Attenuator selection and performance
HVAC acoustic attenuators are installed in-duct and reduce noise propagation through the ventilation system. They work by lining the duct with acoustic absorption material, forcing airflow through a tortuous path, or a combination of both. Insertion loss is measured across octave bands and is the key performance parameter for attenuator selection.
Attenuator selection involves a balance between insertion loss and pressure-drop. An attenuator that delivers high insertion loss but creates excessive pressure-drop will affect fan performance and increase energy consumption. Flexshield’s Sonic acoustic attenuators are designed to achieve the required insertion loss at pressure-drops that are compatible with the system design.
Products
Sonic acoustic attenuators: In-duct attenuators for supply, return and exhaust air systems. Custom-manufactured to duct dimensions and performance requirements. Available in rectangular and circular configurations to suit the ductwork layout.
Sonic Series acoustic louvres
Where noise breakout from ventilation openings is the primary concern, Sonic Series acoustic louvres provide attenuated ventilation with controlled free area. Louvre selection is based on the required Rw performance and airflow parameters. Available from SL4-10 (Rw 18dB, 22% free area) through to SL4-60C (Rw 33dB, 35% free area), with multiple configurations suited to different attenuation and airflow requirements.
Sonic acoustic enclosures for HVAC plant: Where the noise source is HVAC plant equipment rather than ductwork, acoustic enclosures provide targeted source treatment. Flexshield manufactures enclosures for air-handling units, fans, and mechanical plant, with integrated ventilation provisions to maintain airflow performance.
