Permanent acoustic noise walls for industrial and infrastructure applications

Permanent noise walls are installed to manage environmental noise from industrial facilities, power generation plant, infrastructure projects and mechanical equipment compounds. They are a long-term investment and need to perform reliably over the life of the asset without significant maintenance.

Flexshield manufactures permanent acoustic noise wall panels designed for Australian industrial and infrastructure conditions. Panels are engineered to project specifications, manufactured in Australia and built for long service lives.

Design and performance

The performance of a permanent noise wall depends on the acoustic specification of the panel, the height and configuration of the wall, and the quality of the construction at panel joints and penetrations. A wall with the right acoustic rating that is installed with gaps or inadequately sealed penetrations will not deliver the expected attenuation.

Flexshield’s Sonic System acoustic modular panels are tested in a NATA-accredited laboratory and available in configurations suited to different reduction targets. Panels are manufactured to project-specific dimensions and configurations.

Panel options

Sonic System acoustic modular panels: V50 panels achieve Rw 31dB with NRC 1.00 and are suited to general industrial noise wall applications. V100 panels achieve Rw 37dB with NRC 1.10 for applications requiring greater attenuation. V100SP panels achieve Rw 45dB with NRC 0.90 for demanding, high-specification applications. V225 panels achieve Rw 24dB with NRC 0.80 and are suited to applications where moderate noise reduction is required alongside weather protection.

All Sonic System acoustic modular panels carry a fire rating of -/120/-.

Access and integration

Permanent noise walls enclosing or surrounding equipment areas require access provisions. Sonic Access acoustic doors are available in single leaf (Rw 46dB) and double leaf (Rw 45dB) configurations, with high-performance doors to Rw 52dB for demanding applications. Doors are designed to integrate with the wall construction and maintain the acoustic performance of the overall barrier.

Sonic Series acoustic louvres can be incorporated into noise walls where ventilation of enclosed areas is required. Louvre selection is based on the airflow requirement and the acoustic performance needed at the opening.0.96
